Going skiing in Le Semnoz from Annecy

Going to Le Semnoz

In this post I'm going to talk about and show you the little paradise that is "Le Semnoz", a little ski resort not far from Annecy with super transport links!

I have spent more time at this resort in the last week than at my home which is one of the reasons why I like it so much.  But another reason is the ease of access, it's 35 minutes from the train station in Annecy! But words can only describe so much so here are a few photos from the last couple of days there!

Getting there

To get to Le Semnoz you have to take a bus from the "Gare Routière"which is where the buses leave, just to the left of the train station.  There is a bus everyday (during the school holidays) at 0945/1145/1345 and coming back at 0945/1300/1730. After the school holidays these go back to being just at the weekend.
The bus is 5.60 euro for a return ticket so it's a brilliant deal but make sure you have change or the bus driver will get very angry when there are 40 people looking for change from a ten euro note!

What is there to do there?

Believe it or not there is more to do than just skiing! It's possible to rent skis, snowboards and all the apparel there  although I would advise booking in advance because it's gets hectic at the holidays! You can also rent snowshoes which are perfect if you feel that skiing is a bit extreme for you and if you're into masochism there is a full "Ski du Fond" or cross country skiing course for your pleasure.

For relaxing there are four restaurants/bars as well as a common room area for free access (where I usually leave my bag without valuables in it because it's not supervised)

The pistes

The map of the ski area can be seen here. As you can see there is something for everybody here, from greens like the "bambi" to some of the steep red and blacks. There is also a snowpark with some nice features on it for those so inclined. It's a great place to build some confidence as a beginner which is one thing I love about this station because if you go to some of the bigger resorts you're paying for a huge amount that you won't use!

Which brings me to the price! Prices start from 9 euro for 2 hours to 16.20 euro for 10 hours (if you have the stamina!). For more information please clock here

So if you're hanging around in Annecy go skiing, I'm certainly glad I did!

See you later,
Éanna.
