After talking with friends who are visiting me in March (woop woop) have realized that Annecy is not always the easiest place to get to, so I will give you a quick rundown of getting here and a few tips and tricks that will apply to traveling in France in general.
To start us off I would like to advise you that usually Sunday is not a great day for traveling. For those of who you don't know, Sunday in France is meant to be a very chilled day, most shops won't be open and transport timetables are very bare. While it's possible to travel, I just don't recommend it because of the larger gaps in timetables if you have a more than one connection it can make life hell!
The easiest way to get to this charming town is by flying in to Geneva and getting the bus to Annecy if you're a poor plebeian, or if you've the dosh go hire a car. To get the bus it costs 14 euro, it takes roughly an hour and the timetable can be found here.
You may have to get the bus from the center of Geneva due to the time but worry not you're entitled to free travel from Geneva airport to the center of Geneva (just pick up a ticket which is beside the exit after baggage pick up on the left, you can't miss it). The easiest way is to get the train to the Cornavin train station (Center of Geneva) walk down Rue des Alpes and it will be on your right hand side. Easy peasy!
You always have the option of getting a taxi but beware taxis in Geneva and Annecy are very expensive!
Another option you have is carpooling, I know I mentioned this in my last post but still, it's unreal! It's a very common journey for people in Annecy because of "les frontaliers" (people who work in one country but live elsewhere e.g. Annecy-Geneva), it will make the journey a bit quicker and it's good for the environment!
Check it out here.
All that's left for you to do now is to come visit; you won't regret it!
Venez visiter!
